Gathering reference materials and sketching the motifs by hand (you also have access to a JPG of pre-drawn motifs in the class resources that you can use for your project).

Using the Pen Too to trace your drawing in Illustrator.

Creating a repeat using your vector motifs.

Changing the colours of your pattern and creating gradient backgrounds to achieve different looks.
