If you're a Ruby developer curious about Elixir, then this course is for you. Even though Elixir is a functional language, it feels very similar to Ruby in a lot of ways and has a great community surrounding it. In fact, José Valim, the creator of the Elixir language was a Ruby developer and brought a lot of the aspects we love about Ruby into Elixir.
Elixir piqued my interest in the same way that Ruby did 10 years ago. When I first started to dive in, I found it extremely helpful when articles and tutorials would make reference to how an Elixir feature mapped to Ruby. For example, in Ruby we have symbols but in Elixir they are called atoms.
This course provides you with a short introduction to Elixir, using Ruby as a comparison. After taking the course you will hopefully have a better idea as to whether or not you'd like to invest the time to learn and use Elixir for your future projects.
