the book explores and explains why the majority of Zambia's people live empoverished lives in the 21st century of space and satelite technologies; placing the blame squarely on a dysfunctional and primitive political culture and the lack of knowledge and absence of application of economic theory in a country that seems to have minor sense of the long term. Without man made calamities such as wars and natural disasters like tsunamis volcanoes, tornadoes, monsoon floods, earthquakes and hitwaves, the book states that Zambia is the worst possible example of a country gone under because of missed opportunities and misplaced priorities. But the book suggests that economics and the application of economic theory holds the answer for Zambia to play catch up and transform her economy into the 21st century and let her people live easier lives in a shorter period of time than it took the Chinese to pull hundreds of millions of their people out of poverty. According to the author, "It makes sense too; much of what affects our lives and shapes our enviroment is unwittingly determined by economics and economists." The book prescribes what must be done for this transformation to occur. In part two of the book, the reader is treated to a number of well researched and articulated discussion papers on topical issues of Zambia's economy; from education to enviroment, mining taxes to oil procurement, electricity tarrifs to bank interest rates; all from the perspective of economic theory.
