欢迎! Peng's classroom! I'm excited to teach you about the Chinese Language and Culture. Learning a new language can look challeg and scary. For most, it is new, different, and unfamiliar. Language learning is in fact interesting and fun. In order to be successful in this class, it is very important that we are hardworking and consistent. I value open communication so feel free to come to me at any if you need support. In this introductory course, students will explore the concepts of self, friendship, family, pets and sports in the target language. By the end of course, students should be between the Novice Mid - Novice High level of performance as defined by the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. This Chinese I course is designed to develop your proficiency in all four language skills. It emphasizes the ability to communicate orally and in writing. You will learn to function in real-life situations using simple language structures with a wide range of vocabulary. Culture competency will also be emphasized as well. After completing the course, students will be able to: Introduce themselves and others in Chinese Discuss their favorite sports and athlete Talk about family members and their appearance Maintain a basic conversation with others in Chinese Compare and contrast Chinese holidays/culture with their own
