Writing down the church organ in the city church, I settled on a combination of an organ that had an unearthly quality. I put all other sounds aside for a while: how about a combination of even more sound sources? How about having a giant church organ with even more possibilities?


For some reason, while editing the sounds, I continued to watch these pictures of arctic Norwegian churches and breathtaking mountains on Baffin Island. The one that was the first, probably, had a more extensive sound idea, directed towards the northern lights, crystal clear lakes, reflection of the sun on ice landscapes, etc. Now the atmosphere has been found ...
So, the Ethereal Keys concept is the creation of giant keyboards with interconnected sound sources such as church organ, Hammond organ, electric organ, harmonium, analog synthesizers, solo vocalist and choir, electric guitars and various wind instruments, as well as wooden instruments. To conform to the Arctic theme, the ideal of sounding should not be "genuine" in itself, but rather "frozen" in nature. A bit like a 90s synthesizer, but with a much larger memory capacity and better PCM samples. For example, human voices are not meant to sound "natural," but rather as "sound photographs" found under the arctic ice.
Note: some of the presets use the modulation wheel to access more sound layers and parameters. Always remember to check it out. The key range is also different for all presets. Since presets contain different layers that are edited individually, remember that changing the knobs in the graphical interface will affect the overall sound.
An experienced user of Kontakt 5 can, of course, edit the layers separately as desired. Welcome to the musical permafrost!
