Since the release of the first edition, knowledge of pathophysiology of various clinical disorders has expanded to the extent that practically all the chapters had to be rewritten. A prominent change in this edition is that the chapters in the book have been reduced from a total of 52 to 30, eliminating the chapters which dealt with only the physiologic or clinical aspects and had little discussion of pathophysiology. As a result, pathophysiological aspects of disorders have been discussed in greater depth and detail. A large number of figures have been changed and many new figures added to provide better understanding of the text.
