MBIR - folk instrument native to Africa.
Sometimes they are called «Thumb Piano», «Sanza» or «Kalimba». They tend to be self-made and consist of metal prongs attached to a piece of wood, which are plucked thumbs. They are mostly small, with a handful of notes.
Array Instruments, started by Bill Wesley and Patrick Hadley raised the concept of this ancient African idiophones to a whole new level, not only in terms of design tools, but also in terms of cleanliness and sound pitch range.
