Collection 1 - The Portrait

In this tutorial, I walk you through my process of creating natural looking, dynamic portraits using artificial lights. I show you how to examine existing light in the room, and discuss how that informs the process of balancing it with additional lighting. I will also take you step-by-step through my editing process, opening up each Photoshop File and going through them layer by layer. This collection discusses 2 different images, full of lighting diagrams, BTS photos & video, commentary, and full edits of each image. Also included is a Lightroom Preset I use to edit and test images before making selects.

Collection 2 - The Environment

In this tutorial, I discuss the importance of balancing the environment with your subject. Learn how to recognize the existing light in a room, and use that to your advantage when building your lighting setup. I also go over my "shoot and scoot" method while lighting in difficult locations. After discussing the lighting of each image, I take you step-by-step through my editing process, opening up each Photoshop file, and going through them layer by layer. This collection discusses 2 different images, full of lighting diagrams, BTS photos & video, commentary, and full edits of each image. Collection 3 - The Editorial

In this tutorial, I go through my approach for editorial assignments. I discuss the types of shots I hope to achieve and how I go about lighting and editing them. In this real life editorial assignment, I use multiple strobes while balancing existing light in the room.
