Description
The main objective of this course is to shed the light on the importance of barriers that could prevent and mitigate the impact of catastrophic process safety incidents such as fires, explosions, and toxic releases. In this course, we will talk about barriers in the process industry and how to identify barriers based on the most recognized and generally acceptable recommended practices such the International Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP), Center for Chal Process Safety (CCPS), and Energy Institute (EI). We will also illustrate bow tie diagrams and we will describe ,in details, how to develop a bow tie diagram for any hazardous scenario from scratch using one of the best software in the market (Bow tie XP).The common barrier models and the relationship between barriers effectiveness assurance and the process safety indicators will be covered during the course. In this course, you will also be exposed to four examples for events where barriers failed and we will identify together those barriers. Finally, process safety auditors and assessors whose role is to identify defects in any facility barriers will be given a practical approach for effective physical barrier assessment.I hope you enjoy this compressed course and please do not hesitate to ask for any clarifications.Accept my greetings,Mohamed Mesbah
