Die deutsche Eventserie nimmt uns mit an Bord des Unterwasserboots U-612, das im Jahr 1942 auf eine gefährliche Mission geschickt wird. Zu jener Zeit steht die Jungfernfahrt des im Fokus stehenden U-Boots in Frankreich an. Das Kommando hat Kaleun (Kapitänleutnant) Klaus Hoffmann. Die 40-köpfige Besetzung kämpft mit den klaustrophobischen Bedingungen unter Wasser und wird dabei körperlich und seelisch an ihre Grenzen getrieben, sodass die Lage an Bord sehr angespannt ist und jeder Zeit zu eskalieren droht. In der Hafenstadt La Rochelle steht unterdessen die Welt von Simone Strasser Kopf. Sie befindet sich zwischen den Welten von Deutschland und der Résistance und führt selbst eine verbotene Liebesbeziehung, wodurch sie in Lebensgefahr gerät.
