This book is written for anyone who can read at the high school level or above. Its purpose is to help you to understand science. The writing is meant to be conversational and informal. I have intentionally used the simplest terms whenever possible. I have attempted to place as much emphasis as possible on ideas, not on raw information.
This book follows recommendations from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) "Vision and Change in Undergraduate Biology Education" document. Thus the concepts are simple and are meant as a core of concepts, rather than a dictionary of terms.
Although simple, once understood, the concepts in this book are designed to help you determine your own destination, whether you are a high school student or a post-Doc. Thank you for letting me be a part of your journey into science.
