In addition, as early as the 1930s, Pan American Airways had built a hydroponic farm on a remote island in the Pacific, which would allow its flights to replenish their food supplies en route to Asia. Today, the use of hydroponics is becoming increasingly popular particularly as a way of handling the food demands of the future.
