Zhelong's work is heavily influenced by traditional Chinese culture, evident in his design and color choices. A fan of dragons, they are a recurring theme in his projects and are instantly recognizable as carrying his distinctive art style. A speaker at Substance Days Shanghai 2019, Zhelong's work served as Substance Painter 2017's splash screen, and Substance Source's campaign image. In 2019, Allegorithmic published a collection of Zhelong's work in a book called "Yechawood: The Art of Zhelong Xu."
