Content and Overview

Suitable for bning programmers, through this course of 40 lectures and over 2.5 hours of content, you'll learn all of TIA Portal´s fundamentals and establish a strong understanding of the concepts behind each step of creating a structured and well-written TIA PLC application. Each section of the course will have you actively participating with programming exercises, putting your new learned skills into practical use immediately.

Starting with an overview of the sample application used in the course, this course will take you through creating a new TIA project, setting up the PLC and adding input/output modules to the hardware configuration. Afterwards, the course will take you through the steps of structuring the application into smaller, logical modules, and building global data block structures using user-defined data types.

With these basic skills mastered, the course will run you through the process of adding ladder logic to function blocks for the different modules used in the application. A lot of importance will be put on using TIA best practices while coding function blocks for the application.

Finally, with the application complete from a coding perspective, the course will take you through the steps of ing the application to a PLC. Furthermore, you will learn how to edit code online, how to monitor/modify code and data online, and how to troubleshoot an application online using force tables, watch tables and data traces.

At the end of the course, you will be able to create, structure, program and your first PLC application from scratch using a wide array of TIA specific skills and TIA best practices.
