If students also suffer with pain, this course is ideal to help understand why chronic pain interferes with sleep and what to do about it.
This course provides all the tools to develop you own personal sleep plan to tackle your particular problems and overcome them.
Requirements
No previous knowledge of sleep, pain (other than your own experience!), or CBT is necessary. You will be given the knowledge needed to help yourself in easy, manageable chunks. There are tasks to do each day and you will get the most out of the course if you try these out each night and keep track of them in the diary provided. It does not matter if you are on medication or undergoing medical treatments for health problems, these techniques are safe to use. If you are worried however, you can check it out with your doctor first.
Description
This course is aimed at people who long to get a good night's sleep but are also dealing with other physical and mental health problems which interfere with your ability to sleep well. This can be anything from stress at work or home, anxiety, depression, bereavement or issues like obsessive compulsive disorder, to physical health conditions such as recovering from an injury, accident, an operation, or long term conditions like long Covid, fibromyalgia, colitis and rheumatism.No particular skills are needed for the course, but it helps to be open minded about trying different things in your routine consistently, in order to find out what helps you best to overcome your insomnia and feel much less frightened about trying to get to sleep. The videos are clear and easy to follow, and I provide you with all the tools you need to help put your sleep back on track again. We spend looking at what a natural sleep pattern looks like and what each stage involves. What can go wrong with the sleep pattern, and how to identify your own particular difficulty with sleep, then we use different interventions to put it right. We also look at the importance of chilling out properly, and how that makes a huge difference to both sleep and any pain you may be dealing withI am a Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years of experience helping people to overcome many problems with physical and mental health, and the majority of people I see will all have sleep problems which just add to the overall feelings of distress and exhaustion which they already coping with. This course includes all the things I would do initially to help someone to start to sleep much better again, and to feel much more clear headed and in control of their life again!Lack of sleep can affect everything you want to do in life and makes coping with the normal ups and downs so much harder if you feel exhausted all the . So it is important to do something about it. Insomnia can feel very lonely and and scary to deal with, but actually there is a lot you can do to change it. This course will show you how, using proven CBT techniques which you can easily learn and build in to your daily life.
